The University of the Federal Employment Agency (HdBA) is a state-recognized university with accredited courses. It was founded in 2006 by the Federal Employment Agency (BA), accredited by the Science Council and officially recognized by the state of Baden-Württemberg . In 2011, the university and courses were re-accredited.

history

The university emerged in 2006 from the labor administration department of the Federal University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration . This had been based in Mannheim since 1972 and trained civil servants and employees for the higher service of the labor administration. With the transition of the department from the federal government to the BA, the range of courses was also completely reformed in 2006. Since September 2006, the HdBA has been offering students at the Mannheim and Schwerin campuses the opportunity to qualify for labor market policy specialist tasks in the undergraduate courses "Labor Market Management ( Bachelor of Arts )" and "Consulting for Education, Career and Employment (Bachelor of Arts)". As of October 2015, the university will introduce the part-time master's degree in “Labor Market-Oriented Consulting ( Master of Arts )”. In addition to the courses mentioned, the university takes on various further training measures for the employees of the Federal Employment Agency. In addition, she conducts research in a large number of scientific projects in the fields of employment-oriented consulting, the labor market and employment. The homepage of the HdBA gives an overview of research projects.

Bachelor's degree programs

Around 500 study places per year are offered in the bachelor's degree courses in labor market management (BA) and advice for education, occupation and employment (BA). The full-time course lasts three years and is divided into 9 trimesters of 4 months each. The students spend five trimesters at the university, the so-called attendance trimesters. In the four internship trimesters, students complete internships in various areas of the Federal Employment Agency. The courses are interdisciplinary and include content from the fields of law, social, economic and educational sciences as well as psychology. Between the academic trimesters, students deepen their knowledge in four practical trimesters, e.g. B. in an employment agency or a job center, in a company, at a chamber or abroad. Upon successful completion of the course, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree is obtained.

Master’s degree courses

As of October 2015, the part-time master's degree in “Labor Market-Oriented Consulting (MA)” will be offered at the HdBA. In this continuing education course, 120 ECTS points can be acquired in five semesters. The course concludes with a Master of Arts degree and provides the basis for any subsequent doctorate.
