The Technology and Economics - Aalen University is a University of Applied Sciences (formerly University of Applied Sciences ) with technical-economic focus in Aalen in the east of Baden-Württemberg . Founded in 1962, it was converted into a technical college in 1971 and has around 6,000 students .

history

Today's Aalen University was founded on October 1st, 1962 as the Aalen State Engineering School . In January 1963, the engineering department for metal finishing and materials science in Schwäbisch Gmünd was incorporated . On April 1, 1963, the engineering school officially began teaching in makeshift barracks . At the end of 1968 she moved to the “Beethovenstrasse” location built by Günter Behnisch . In 1971 the state engineering school was renamed a technical college and in 1997 it was renamed Aalen University of Technology and Economics . In 2006 the "Electronics and Computer Science" and "Optics and Mechatronics" faculties move to the new "Burren" location. In 2010 it became a university of applied sciences.

Aalen University currently has around 60 courses in the fields of technology and economics . After completing their bachelor's degree , students can gain further qualifications in around 30 master’s degree programs . Around 150 professors and many other lecturers work at Aalen University. The starting point was the mechanical engineering and surface technology departments with five diploma courses.

Further education academy

The Aalen University of Applied Sciences was founded in 2009 as a non-profit company . The aim of the academy is to promote professional development . Both the university's sponsoring association and the university itself are shareholders of the academy. In addition to the part-time bachelor's degree courses in mechanical engineering , mechatronics and business administration , the part-time master's degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on simulation and validation, as well as academic seminars, are offered.

Graduate School East Wuerttemberg

The Graduate School Ostwürttemberg GmbH was founded in 2010 as a non-profit GmbH with the aim of promoting professional training in the region and, in particular, offering a range of extra-occupational courses to strengthen the next generation of managers in the region. The shareholders of the GmbH are Aalen University and the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Heidenheim, as well as the associations of friends and sponsors of the two universities. The Graduate School Ostwuerttemberg has offered the Master of Business Administration course since 2010 .
