The Macromedia University of Applied Sciences ( Macromedia University for short) is a private German university of applied sciences, in addition to six other locations, also based in Freiburg im Breisgau .
history
The hKDM (University of Art, Design and Popular Music Freiburg) emerged from the merger of the Free University of Graphic Design and Fine Arts Freiburg (FHF) and the International Music College Freiburg , a division of the Freiburg Jazz & Rock Schools (JRS). It was founded in 2010 and started studying in the 2011 winter semester after the accreditation process was completed. The range of courses offered by the hKDM comprised the bachelor's degree courses in fine arts , integrated design , popular music and computer science for audiovisual media.
In October 2015, the British holding company Galileo Global Education , which also includes Macromedia University in Germany , acquired a 90% stake in hKDM. Galileo Global Education, in turn, is owned by the US investment company Providence Equity Partners . On October 1, 2018, the hKDM merged with the Macromedia University and has been using its name since then.
courses
The Macromedia University of Applied Sciences Freiburg offers around 15 fields of study with recognized Bachelor degrees in the fields of management , media , art and design . The majority of the Bachelor's degree programs are designed for the acquisition of 210 ECTS and last seven semesters, including a practical semester and a semester abroad. There are no restrictions on admission via a numerus clausus .
In spring 2020, the university announced that the popular music course would be discontinued. No new students will be accepted for this and the last ones will graduate in the winter semester 2022/23 .
