Norbert Lins (born December 22, 1977 in Ravensburg ) is a German ministerial official and politician ( CDU ). In the European elections in 2014 , he was in the European Parliament elected. Norbert Lins has been chairman of the agricultural committee since July 2019.

Life

education and profession

He passed his Abitur in 1997 at the Ravensburg Business School . He then did military service in the Bundeswehr in Sigmaringen . From 1998 to 2002 he studied as a candidate for the higher service at the Kehl University of Applied Sciences . This was followed by a master's degree in "European Administrative Management" at the Ludwigsburg and Kehl University of Applied Sciences.

In 2004 he became office manager of the CDU MEP Andreas Schwab . From 2006 to 2011 he was a lecturer at the University of Kehl. After a further administrative position, he became Rudolf Köberle's personal advisor in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for Rural Areas and Consumer Protection . From 2013 he held the department “Broadband Funding”.

Political party

Lins was active in local politics in the Junge Union and the CDU. Since 1998 he has been a member of the CDU district executive in the Ravensburg district. From 1999 to 2004 he was district chairman of the Junge Union in the Ravensburg district, from 2003 to 2011 a member of the state board of the Junge Union Baden-Württemberg and from 2005 to 2011 district chairman of the Junge Union Württemberg-Hohenzollern. From 2009 to 2011 he was a councilor in the municipality of Horgenzell. Since 2011, Norbert Lins has been deputy district chairman of the CDU Württemberg-Hohenzollern and since 2013 a member of the state board of the CDU Baden-Württemberg.

Member of Parliament

He has been a member of the European Parliament since 2014 . Since 2019 he has been chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development there and thus a member of the Conference of Committee Chairs . He is also a member of the EU-Iceland Joint Parliamentary Committee, the European Economic Area Joint Parliamentary Committee and the delegation for relations with Switzerland and Norway. He is also a deputy member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety , the Delegation to the EU-Mexico Joint Parliamentary Committee and the Delegation to the Euro-Latin America Parliamentary Assembly. In 2018, Lins was, together with MEP Bart Staes, rapporteur for the special committee for the EU's approval process for pesticides .

In May 2019, Norbert Lins was re-elected to the European Parliament from fourth place on the CDU state list Baden-Württemberg. In July 2019, Norbert Lins became chairman of the Agriculture Committee, which is responsible for shaping the common agricultural policy in the European Union.
