Wolf-Dietrich Hammann

Wolf-Dietrich Hammann (born February 25, 1955 in Erbach near Ulm) is a German lawyer . From 2009 to 2013 he was the police chief of Baden-Württemberg . He then worked as a ministerial director in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for Integration until 2016 , before moving to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for Social Affairs and Integration in 2016 . Since 2010 he has been an honorary professor at the University of Konstanz .

Life

His training in high-level administrative services and a degree at the Kehl Administrative College (1971–1976) was followed by a law degree with a doctorate from the University of Tübingen .

After completing his legal clerkship at the Tübingen Regional Court , Wolf-Dietrich Hamann was appointed legal and coordinating clerk at the Tübingen regional council; in 1986 and 1987 he worked in the state police department with responsibility for police and immigration law. He then became spokesman for the Baden-Württemberg environment minister and head of press and public relations in the environment ministry (1987–1989). Hammann also held lectureships in public law, including immigration law, at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in Kehl , lectureship at the Baden-Württemberg Management Academy in Karlsruhe, as well as training management and deputy personnel officer at the Tübingen regional council and teaching assignment for public law at the university Constance with appointment as honorary professor in 2010.

In 2005 he was entrusted with the management of the environment department in the Tübingen regional council, with an additional appointment as vice-president of the regional government in Tübingen (2008).

From July 2009 to September 2013, Hammann held the position of State Police President of Baden-Württemberg , from October 1, 2013 he was Ministerial Director at the Ministry for Integration in Stuttgart. With his successor as State Police President, Gerhard Klotter , a police officer and no longer a lawyer was appointed to this post for the first time. After the Ministry of Integration was dissolved after the change of government in 2016 and some of its tasks were transferred to the Ministry of Social Affairs , he took on the same position there.

Wolf-Dietrich Hammann is married, the couple has a grown son.
