Gerhard Klotter (born July 13, 1955 ) is the former state police chief of Baden-Württemberg and former police chief of Mannheim .

Professional background

Gerhard Klotter took up police service in the Baden-Württemberg police force in 1974 after graduating from high school . In 1979 he rose to the senior and in 1989 to the higher police force . From 1991 to 1992 he was involved in setting up the State Police School Saxony and was in charge of it. From 1995 to 1996 he took part in the tenth course at the Baden-Württemberg Leadership Academy . Between 1997 and 1998 he was a public relations officer in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior - State Police Headquarters. From 2000 he headed the Baden-Württemberg water police and from 2003 was responsible for the overall project for the modernization of the police's communication and information systems.

In 2007, as police chief, he became head of the Mannheim police headquarters .

In 2011 he was promoted to police inspector in Baden-Württemberg. In this function, he was also responsible for the overall project for the structural reform of the police in Baden-Württemberg from 2012 to 2013. The successor in Mannheim was Caren Denner .

From October 1, 2013 he was the state police president of Baden-Württemberg. In this function, he is also the representative of Baden-Württemberg in the Internal Security Working Group (AK II) of the Conference of Interior Ministers and chairman of the project management of the police crime prevention program of the states and the federal government .

Klotter retired on December 31, 2019. Stefanie Hinz was her successor as the first state police president of the state of Baden-Württemberg.
