Thomas Köber

Thomas Köber (born April 24, 1956 ) is a former German police officer and former police chief of Mannheim .

Professional background

Thomas Köber joined the Baden-Württemberg police in 1975 . In 1979 he was promoted to the higher service , in 1992 to the higher service . In 1992 he was in charge of the Revierdienst inspection at the Mannheim Police Headquarters . From 1995 he was in charge of Section Ia, Operations, and became Deputy Head of Section I, Protection Police . In 1998 he was seconded to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior . In 2000 he returned to the Mannheim Police Headquarters, initially as head of the command and control team, then he was temporarily entrusted with the management of the police department. In 2008 he became head of the Police Department and deputy to the police chief. In 2009 he was on the planning staff to prepare for the police operation on the occasion of the NATO summit. In 2012 he led the cross-sectional project 2 (staffs / control centers) of the police reform of Baden-Württemberg . In 2013 he was the head of the “Mannheim Police Headquarters” project.

In 2014, Thomas Köber succeeded Caren Denner as police chief in Mannheim. He retired on May 1, 2019. He was succeeded by Andreas Stenger .
