Sandy Mölling , actually Sandra Mölling (born April 27, 1981 in Wuppertal ), is a German pop singer who became known as a member of the girl group No Angels .

Life

Mölling is the daughter of a nurse and a graduate engineer and physicist who separated when she was six years old. She grew up with two older and one younger brother in Wuppertal , Remscheid , Wermelskirchen and Koblenz . In Koblenz-Karthause she went to the local secondary school, where she completed the secondary school leaving certificate, and then attended the grammar school for four months, which she left in the 11th grade. She moved out of home when she was 16.

Before starting her singing career, Mölling worked as a saleswoman in a clothing store. From 2002 she lived in Ratingen with her manager, the Dutch Fame Academy trainer and dancer Renick Bernadina. On March 27, 2009, she gave birth to a son in Koblenz . In July 2009 Mölling and Renick announced their separation. Since 2009 she has been in a relationship with Nasri Atweh , the Canadian songwriter and singer of the band Magic . The two met while working on the No Angels album Welcome to the Dance . From the relationship with Atweh, ​​Mölling has a son who was born in October 2015. The family lives in Los Angeles .

Career

No Angels

At the end of 2000 Mölling became one of five winners of the first Popstars season as a member of the girl group No Angels. The group broke up in late 2003 after selling five million records and four number 1 hits.

In 2007 the singer celebrated a comeback together with the No Angels , one year later, on March 6, 2008, she won the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the group and represented Germany at the competition in Belgrade on May 24, 2008. Solo career

In 2003 Mölling had a guest appearance in the film solo album . In May 2004 she released her first solo single Unnatural Blonde . The song reached number eight in the German single charts. Her first solo album Unexpected was released in September 2004, reached number 13 in the German album charts and produced a second top 10 song, Tell Me . In the same year the readers of Maxim Mölling voted “Woman of the Year 2004” in the Pop-National category. Also in 2004 she became a jury member for the fourth season of Popstars and hosted an edition of the show The Dome and the McChart Show on ProSieben .

With a remix of the title song of the album, in which she was accompanied by rapper Manuellsen , Mölling entered the Bundesvision Song Contest 2005 for Rhineland-Palatinate and took last place. The song reached number 29 in the singles charts. Her stepfather had died of sepsis a few days earlier , which is why she took a few months to process his death. During this time she wrote songs for her second solo album, which contains two songs dedicated to her stepfather. Also in 2005 she was nominated for an echo in the category “Best Artist National”. In 2006 Mölling moved from the record company Polydor to Starwatch Music . Her second album Frame of Mind was released on May 26, 2006 and reached number 53 in the German album charts. The first single was Crash (# 24), a cover of the primitive song of the same name from the 1980s. Their fifth single, Living Without You , was released in mid-November 2006 and reached number 36 in the German charts. Also in 2006 Mölling presented the music show The Dome for the second time , together with Oliver Petszokat and Anastasia Zampounidis . In the spring of 2006 Mölling entered the Let's Dance television competition and was eliminated on May 13th as third best.

Since 2007 Mölling has been seen increasingly in regular television formats. At VIVA , she hosted the styling show Du bist… and the date show Damenwahl, as well as the clip shows Autsch TV and Sport-Desaster for Das Vierte . In addition, she played from May 2008 every Friday in the first season of the comedy show Sketch for Fun on Sat.1 . Mölling was a member of the jury in Die singende Firma in autumn 2008, alongside Mark Medlock and Joachim Llambi . For the German soundtrack of the film Bambi 2 - The Lord of the Woods , she sang three songs with the titles Everything is alive , It feels like spring and Through Your Eyes a. In 2014 she was the narrator at the side of Alexander Klaws in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Freilichtbühne Tecklenburg . From May to July 2015 she played the role of angel Angelina in the musical Paradise of Pain in the Saarland State Theater .

In June 2015 she published her first children's book Pumpel, Der Baumzwerg - In Search of the Great Happiness: On the Importance of a Family , which was created in collaboration with her mother Dagmar Sprenger-Fuchs.

In 2016 and 2017 she played the role of Eliza Doolittle in the musical My Fair Lady at the Bad Hersfeld Festival alongside Cusch Jung and Ilja Richter . Mölling was awarded the Bad Hersfeld Audience Award for her role.

In 2017 Mölling was a candidate for the second season of the dance show Dance Dance Dance , which was broadcast on RTL. Her dance partner was ex- Monrose member Bahar Kizil . Together they reached second place behind Luca Hänni and Prince Damien .

In August 2019 she took on the leading role of Popess Johanna in the musical "Die Päpstin " at the Theaterhaus Stuttgart .

In 2004 Mölling founded also children need vacation , a project financed by donations that enables children of financially disadvantaged families to vacation on a horse farm. In March 2013 she and the People for Animals Foundation opened a nature and animal protection room in a school in Dresden. Together with the Aktion Tier - People for Animals association , she gave a blind woman a companion dog in April 2013 . She has been the ambassador of the Rainbow Land children's hospice since 2010 .
