action

Carsten Vogel is a family therapist , father of five daughters and his wife is leaving to work for a professional ice hockey player . With his very different daughters between five and 17 years old, Carsten seems completely overwhelmed with the household. His mother-in-law Wilhelmina von Funke is of no help here either. In addition to private problems, there are also professional ones: the patients stay away. Only Tessa Birkin, wife of the millionaire Michael Birkin, comes to him, although she originally wanted to divorce because her husband does not want to have children.

background

A house full of daughters is the adaptation of the sitcom Papiny Dotschki (Папины дочки , German  about Papa's daughters ) of the Russian TV station STS . The first and only self-produced series by the station, Das Vierte , was filmed under the then station boss Dmitri Lesnewski in 2009 with 48 episodes in the Bavaria Filmstudios in Munich . The broadcast, originally planned earlier, did not take place until the summer of 2010 after a change of station owner. To promote the series, the first two episodes were put online free of charge on the fourth YouTube channel one week before the TV premiere .

Charisma

The fourth started the series on August 19, 2010 in prime time . After changing the broadcast dates several times, the first broadcast ended on October 14, 2010 after 35 episodes. The episodes broadcast achieved only small market shares and were below the broadcasting average. In 2011, the station took the series back into the program at lunchtime.

criticism

In the tradition of popular successes such as Die Trapp-Familie (1956), the musical The Sound of Music or its filming (1958) or series such as Die Nanny from the 1990s, the plot is assigned a possible potential, but this is not played out here. One point of criticism is the almost non-existent cultural adaptation of the Russian original, due to the behavior shown and the image of families and women in the series, there is a lack of credibility - especially for a series set in Germany. The sound track with the background laughter is mentioned as a serious problem, the distribution of which is downright disturbing:

"To speak of dilettantism here would be an insult to all dilettantes who are self-respecting."

- Christian Junklewitz, Serienjunkies.de

In the book, the lack of character depth or subtlety in the development of the characters are criticized, and the daughter characters only serve stereotypes and clichés. The actors are unanimously allowed to get the best out of the respective role. In conclusion, the reviews remain clear:

“According to the motto 'You always tried hard', the verdict for“ A house full of daughters ”is failed. Even worse; the format is the rape of the so often underrated sitcom genre and the worst thing that has flickered on the domestic screens for a long time. "

- Jan Schlüter, Oddsmeter.de

Most of the user reviews of the first episode on YouTube were also negative.
