The song describes how a person is abandoned and has to deal with it. The piece was composed by Thomas Troelsen in 2005. A demo version of the song was recorded at the Delta Lab Recording Studios in Copenhagen. He was supported by Hanne Sørvaag, who published her version of the song on March 10, 2008 on MySpace . This demo version was played to the A&R manager Niklas Hafemann and the No Angels, who played this song for the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 Wer singt für Deutschland? chose. Finally, the piece was recorded again on December 22, 2007 in the Gutleut studios in Frankfurt am Main .

Music video

Oliver Mommsen played the lead role in the music video.

The music video was made on January 23, 2008 in a castle in Potsdam . German actor Oliver Mommsen appeared in the music video after meeting Lucy Diakovska and Jessica Wahls on the talk show Die Tietjen and Dibaba . The video was shot for Katapult Film, directed by Daniel Lwowski.

The video begins with the protagonist breaking down his BMW 2000 . He finds an empty villa and enters it, there he feels observed and is looking for the observers. These watchers are four female ghosts (played by the No Angels) who approach him. However, he cannot see it, only feel it. As soon as he turns around, they are gone.

The world premiere of the video took place on February 5, 2008 on the TV program VIVA Live on the VIVA station . The version was later cut to three minutes to meet the guidelines of the Eurovision Song Contest .

Preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest

In January 2008 the song qualified for the German preliminary decision of the year 2008, which was broadcast by Das Erste and the NDR . This program was followed by a total of 3.47 million viewers. Finally, the No Angels were able to prevail against Marquess (La histeria) , Cinema Bizarre (Forever or Never) and Carolin Fortenbacher (Hinterm Ozean) .

After winning the No Angels preselection, there were allegations of plagiarism , as the song was said to have similarities with the song Breaking the Silence recorded by SSDSDSSWEMUGABRTLAD candidate Steffi List : The accusation was made by Daniel Lutz from the radio station "Hitradio rt. 1 Augsburg". The result of the test commissioned by the NDR said that both songs have a certain similarity, but that they would be separate songs.

Eurovision Song Contest

Since Germany is one of the “Big Five” countries of the European Broadcasting Union , the No Angels were already qualified. During their performance, a wind machine was used and made the No Angels' clothes blow, LED projections were also generated in the background and pyrotechnics were used. Germany received a total of 14 points and came in 23rd place. 12 points came from Bulgaria, the home country of band member Lucy Diakovska , and 2 points from Switzerland. The same number of points was achieved by Isis Gee for Poland with the song For Life and Andy Abraham for Great Britain with the song Even If .
