Carolin Fortenbacher (born June 26, 1963 in Hamburg ) is a German singer and actress . A wide audience was through the ABBA - Musical Mamma Mia! known, in which she was engaged as the leading actress at the Hamburg Operettenhaus from 2002 to 2007 . She is a member of the music group La Fortenbacher & the Carolinger .

1980s and 1990s
Carolin Fortenbacher has been teaching classical ballet from an early age and became a ballet student with Monika Radler at the age of 13. From 1982 to 1984 she trained as a singer, dancer and actress at the Volker Ullmann Studio in Hamburg and deepened her singing studies from 1991 to 2005 with Liliana Aabye. 1983 followed her first engagement with the International Movers Dance Company in Hamburg. In 1988 she appeared as a dancer in the musical revue Hallelujah, Broadway at the Kaiserslautern City Theater.
Fortenbacher's repertoire includes different styles from white soul to jazz , pop , rock and heavy metal to classical opera singing . Her own musical style lies in the area of rock chanson. The coloratura soprano is known to the audience through musical roles as well as classical roles. From 1985 to 1991 she appeared as Queen of the Night in Mozart's opera Die Zauberflöte at the Hamburg Chamber Opera , as Anita in Bernstein's West Side Story at the Stadttheater Münster and as Rosalia at the Staatstheater Kassel , as Lucy in You are in order, Charlie Brown at the Hamburg Theater am Holstenwall and as Audrey in Der kleine Horrorladen at the Nordhausen Theater and at the Theater am Aegi in Hanover. At the Freilichtbühne Tecklenburg she was hired for the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Evita .
From September 1992 Fortenbacher acted in over 60 performances as Pier Angeli in the world premiere of the Franco pop musical Die Legende von Jimmy Dean in the Casa Nova theater in Essen. In addition, she alternated in the roles of Mabel and Kate in The Pirates of Penzance at Theater Dortmund and at Theater des Westens in Berlin. For her portrayal of Kate and her role as Philia in conditions like in ancient Rome , she was awarded the Audience Award of the Theater des Westens in Berlin. She received the Image Award Germany for “Best Actress” for her role as Aldonza in Mann von La Mancha (1996).
2000s
As the black spider in Peter Maffay's musical Tabaluga & Lilli , Fortenbacher was hired from 1999 to 2001 at the TheatrO CentrO in Oberhausen. Her breakthrough came with the lead role of single mother Donna in the jukebox musical Mamma Mia! which she had from November 2002 to September 2007 in 1200 performances at the Operettenhaus Hamburg. The live CD of the musical achieved platinum status in 2005 , and in 2006 the album was awarded the Golden Tuning Fork .
At the beginning of 2004, Carolin Fortenbacher toured Germany and Austria with the musical gala Best of Musical . Her first solo album, Back to Me , was released in September 2005 with twelve tracks . As part of the election of the “Hamburg Top Woman 2005”, Fortenbacher was voted second behind Loki Schmidt by the readers of the Bildzeitung . On March 6, 2008, she competed in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the pop ballad Hinterm Ozean, written and composed by Pe Werner , in which she prevailed against Marquess , Cinema Bizarre and Tommy Reeve in the preliminary round, but in the final selection came second with 49.5% behind the No Angels with Disappear . The release of their single and their album Drama in March 2008 was followed by a nationwide tour with their own live program. In December 2008 she also accompanied the pop band Gregorian as a guest star on their German tour Christmas Chants .
In June 2009, Fort Bacher participated in the VOX telecast Perfect Celebrity Dinner in part. Since 2009 she has also appeared as Katja Wahl-Ente in the Hamburger Kammerspiele as part of the Italian recital Pasta e basta .
2010s
In 2010, she followed her solo program Unverfroren Aufgetaut - A Concert Theater in the Fliegende Bauten Hamburg and a solo concert in the Oberhausen Ebertbad . In the same year she formed the duo La Fortenbacher and Kay with entertainer Kay Ray . With their hot in concert program , they appear regularly in the Schmidt Theater Hamburg and recurring in the Bar every Vernunft in Berlin and in the Theater am Aegi in Hanover. At the Schmidt Theater Hamburg, Fortenbacher also acts under the direction of Corny Littmann in the hit comedy Oh Alpenglühn! by Mirko Bott , for whom she was awarded the Rolf Mares Prize in October 2012 in the “Outstanding Actress” category. From 2011 she played the title role alongside Sascha Rotermund in the novel adaptation Das Orangenmädchen based on Jostein Gaarder at the Altonaer Theater in Hamburg. Together with Sascha Rotermund, Carolin Fortenbacher then developed the stage program La Fortenbacher & die Carolinger: I'm hungry! , which had (its successful) premiere in February 2013 under the musical direction of Martin Langer and Dominik Pobot at Schmidts Tivoli in Hamburg. The album Kamionka was released on February 14, 2014 together with her music group Die Carolinger . In the summer of 2014 she played the role of stepmother Dorabella in the musical Cinderella at the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale Festival in Hanau . Together with her husband Sascha Rotermund, she designed the Fortenbacher's Intimate Night , which premiered in June 2014 at Angie's (Schmidt Tivoli). From September 2014 she played together with Marion Martienzen in the music show Forever Soul in the Hamburger Kammerspiele . In 2015 she played the play Entführung aus dem Paradies together with Nik Breidenbach in the new venue Das Schmidtchen . In 2016 she took on the role of Diana Goodman in the musical Fast Normal - Next to Normal by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey at the Hamburger Kammerspiele. In 2017 she devoted herself primarily to music and brought the concert program ABBA makes you happy! and Fortenbacher, Streisand sings at the Schmidt Theater in Hamburg. On November 1st, 2017 the live album Carolin Fortenbacher singt ABBA was released and stated: ABBA makes you happy! . The live album Fortenbacher singt Streisand was released on February 3, 2018.
