The Allee Theater in Hamburg-Altona is home to the Theater für Kinder , a privately run children's theater founded in 1968 . Since 1996 the Hamburg Chamber Opera has been playing there under the same direction in the Stagionesystem and with two new productions per season chamber operas for adults.

Location and building

The "Allee-Theater" is located at Max-Brauer-Allee 76 in the Altona-Altstadt district . When the theater was founded, the street was simply called Allee or Altonaer Allee , which explains the name of the theater. It was not renamed to Max Brauer until 1975. Across the street from the theater is the Gymnasium Allee , and diagonally across from the Julius-Leber-Strasse intersection is the Hamburg-Altona district court .

The Etagenhau housed on the ground floor, first a storage room, which later in 1948 as Kommödientheater and movie theater was rebuilt with 270 seats. The owners Johnigk & Co started playing in 1951. Behind the screen , the demonstration room also had a small stage on which the post-war period and comedies were performed. In 1958 E. Rudat took over the cinema and renovated it himself. In 1967 the cinema was closed, the theater founder Uwe Deeken rented it the same year and converted it into a children's theater.

The theater has a hall with a stage and auditorium, which is used equally by children's theater and chamber opera. In 1996, for the opening of the chamber opera, the stage was renewed and equipped with stage technology. Between the stage and the audience there is a small orchestra pit designed for seven musicians. The hall seats 203 spectators on upholstered red-gold single chairs. At the side of the auditorium is the foyer with bistro , a hall with a restaurant and a glazed area facing the backyard.
