"Theater das Zimmer" (2016)

The theater room is a private theater in Hamburg-Horn , which is headed by Sandra Kiefer, Jan Holtappels and Lars Ceglecki. As a cabaret with 40 seats in the auditorium, the “Theater das Zimmer” has been the successor to the venue of the “ Theater in Washingtonallee ”, which was previously located there and which ceased operations in July 2014. In addition, it should not be confused with the “ Theater im Zimmer ” in Hamburg-Harvestehude , which closed in July 1999.

Venue and history

The 50 m² right half of a one-room annex of the listed housing estate in Washingtonallee 42a / 42, which was built in 1936/1937 ( architect : Hans Stockhauser) and - still without structural separation in two halves - serves as the venue was a grocery store during WWII . Stock home had this shop in addition to the 1930/1931, designed by Ernst H. Dorendorf errichtetem dairy shop in the Auer number 7, which is used as a home today than building complex planned for the local supply of the population in Hamburg-Horn.

The “Horner Rennbahn” underground station is within walking distance (approx. 550 meters), as has been the HVV bus stop “Hasencleverstraße” on line 213 (approx. 25 meters away) since the timetable change in 2008 .

After the "Theater in der Washingtonallee" ceased operations in July 2014, the venue with 40 seats in the auditorium was reopened under new management as "Theater das Zimmer" on October 3, 2014 with the play Daydreamer by William Mastrosimone .

This was preceded by some renovation measures such as the installation of seven spotlights and the erection of a stage and podium structure that did not exist before. In addition, the fabric-covered spectator seats were arranged in an L-shape.

The repertoire of the theater is not fixed. Past productions were daydreamer by William Mastrosimone, homesick Thomas B. Hoffmann for young people , the recital Project Ursula Michael pocket ( world premiere ), the comedy tour de farce of Philip LaZebnik and Kingsley Day, the fairytale Hans in Luck by the Brothers Grimm , from the memoirs of Herr von Schnabelewopski based on Heinrich Heine , the final presentation of the adult education theater course witch hunt by Arthur Miller , the comedy Jeux de Scene by Victor Haim, Lenz by Georg Büchner , dream woman desperately wanted by Tony Dunham , the musical recital Tell Me on a Sunday (song cycle from Song and Dance by Andrew Lloyd Webber ), The Esperanza Ship by Fred von Hoerschelmann , the poetic narrative piece The Fragrance Collector by Sabine Zieser and the comedy And Always The Legacy of Gabriele Reinecker beckons .

Financing and ticket prices

The “Theater in der Washingtonallee” was financially supported by the Senate's Department of Culture up to the 2012/2013 season in the amount of 28,500 euros for the 2011/2012 season, 30,000 euros for the 2012/2013 season and 12,750 euros for the 2013/2014 season . This funding was not automatically transferred to the “Theater das Zimmer”, which is financed through admission or privately. However, since December 2014 the Senate has counted it as one of the " off-theaters " in Hamburg, ie one of the theaters that mostly function as a stage for the independent scene and can apply for state subsidies.

The ticket prices vary depending on the type of performance ( reading 13.90 euros, monologue 17.20 euros, drama 21.60 euros). There are also the usual discounts for children (8.20 euros) and students (7.00 euros, only at the box office ) (as of August 2016).
