The Theater in the warehouse district is an open-air- private theater in the memory city in the district of Port City in the center of Hamburg District , supported the the "Hamburger Art Ensemble", and since 1994 in the annual summer to everyone by Hugo von Hofmannsthal lists in its own version .

Venue

A temporary open-air stage construction between the Brooksfleet and the boiler house of the former power station in the Speicherstadt (today information center for HafenCity) serves as the venue . The boiler house as well as some of the installed containers serve as a lounge for the actors , cloakroom , bar area for the audience and toilet facilities . The boiler house itself is a monument in HafenCity (built in 1886/1887; Architect: Franz Andreas Meyer), the memory city World Heritage of UNESCO . During the season of the season , the street "Auf dem Sande" is completely closed from 6:00 pm to midnight so that no flowing traffic disturbs the performances and no non-paying pedestrians can attend the performance.

Repertoire and reception

The repertoire consists of Michael Batz's Hamburger Jedermann , which has been performed annually in July and August since 1994.

Over the years, the performances of the "Theater in der Speicherstadt" have firmly established themselves in the Hamburg cultural scene and have become a magnet for both locals and tourists.

The "Theater in der Speicherstadt" is a state-approved stage. It is financially supported by the cultural authority of the Hamburg Senate . The largest provider of third-party funding is " HHLA Immobilien ", the municipal owner of the site.
