Alma Hoppe is a cabaret duo founded around 1984 , consisting of Jan-Peter Petersen and Nils Loenicker. The first appearances took place in the cabaret Mon Marthe , which was closed in 2001, on Tarpenbekstrasse and the corner of Lokstedter Weg in Hamburg-Eppendorf . There the duo later had the indendance, ensured that the halls were full between 1988 and 1993 and, with Alma Hoppe, occupied around 70 percent of the schedule.

On March 25, 1994, the two cabaret artists opened their own stage a few hundred meters further on, the private theater "Lustspielhaus Alma Hoppe" at Ludolfstrasse 53. Performances will take place in the former parish hall of Eppendorfer St St. John's Church . The location of the building is also in the immediate vicinity of the comedy Winterhuder Fährhaus , which Rolf Mares opened in 1988 , directly on the other side of the Alster .

Alma Hoppe's Lustspielhaus has a total of 350 seats. A special feature is that drinks can be consumed at bistro tables during the performances, which also helps to finance the house. Henning Venske , former radio presenter, former editor-in-chief of the satirical magazine Pardon and long-time member of the Münchner Lach- und Schießgesellschaft was part of the permanent team until 2018. In every season there are guest appearances by artists such as Jochen Malmsheimer , Simone Solga , Heinz Strunk , Hanz or groups such as Liederjan .

According to the company, there are 300 performances per year with around 70,000 spectators. As part of the annual funding of Hamburg's private theaters by the cultural authority , the Alma Hoppe Lustspielhaus has received 74,000 euros for the first time since 2017.

Origin of the name Alma Hoppe

Alma Hoppe was a fruit juice factory that went bankrupt in 1976, at the time the largest sweet juice factory in Northern Germany with its headquarters in Neuenkirchen in the old country .
