After graduating from high school, he studied German and history . He broke off a degree in theater studies in favor of training as an actor at the Max Reinhardt School in Berlin ; He had his first stage engagement in 1961 at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm .

In 1967/68 he worked at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg with directors such as Hans Deppe , Peter Mosbacher and Ullrich Haupt .
In the 1970s, Venske began working as a freelance actor, director , presenter and author on television and radio , among others. a. at NDR . Due to differences in content and his statements, which he found critical, sharp-tongued and uncomfortable, he was banned from a number of public broadcasters (including HR ) and therefore had to lead legal disputes. He was considered "Germany's most fired satirist".
From 1971 to 1974 he hosted the television program Music from Studio B . His participation in the German framework of Sesame Street and roles in the crime scene made him known to a larger audience. In the early 1980s, Venske wrote German song texts for the Dutch rock group Bots (LP Aufstehn , 1980) and was editor-in-chief of the satirical magazine Pardon until it was closed in 1982. He published an illustrated reply book in 1983 under the pseudonym Arne Piewitz with the title Ich war der Märchenprinz as a fictional answer to Svende Merian's book The Death of the Prince Charming . Together with the Stern editor Günter Handlögten , he wrote four books on white-collar crime . At Sammy Drechsel's offer , he became a member of the ensemble, author and director of the Münchner Lach- und Schießgesellschaft in 1985 and worked there until 1993.
For many years Venske worked regularly as a speaker and moderator. He also gave regular monthly and annual reviews of the best in the Hamburg cabaret Alma Hoppe's Lustspielhaus ( Venske's monthly / annual shower ). Since September 2009 he has also toured with Jochen Busse and the Inventur program through German-speaking countries.
On March 29, 2009 Venske received the Biermann Ratjen Medal of the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg from Senator for Culture Karin von Welck at the 15-year gala at the Alma Hoppe-Lustspielhaus in Hamburg .
