Hein Hoop (born December 27, 1927 in Gråsten , Denmark ; † May 25, 1986 in Büttel-Eck ) was a German writer and artist.

life and work

Hoop learned the wood carving trade and studied art in the USA at Montana State University - Bozeman . On the dike in front of Vollerwiek he built an artist's hut from an old cottage on the Eiderstedt peninsula and a gallery from the sheepfold next to it. Today the Lina Hähnle House is located in this property, in which the NABU Nature Center Katinger Watt is housed. Here he worked as a sculptor, painter, graphic artist, poet, songwriter , action artist and author - for example for the Munich laughing and shooting society and pardon . He wrote most of his mostly satirical text works in Low German. Several of his texts were set to music by Knut Kiesewetter , Hannes Wader , Lonzo Westphal , Fiede Kay , Volker Lechtenbrink and Liederjan .

Hoop saw himself as the inventor of "Wadden Art ", which he had been practicing since 1964 as a variant of Land Art . In 1972 he staged the Wadden Sea Olympics not far from his home as a protest against the Olympic Games in Munich. Instead of a thousandth of a second, it should be about “wit, situational comedy, originality and elegance”. Later the " Wattolümpiade " developed near Brunsbüttel . Hoop became known through his performances, including the reforestation of the Wadden Sea with oak sculptures, the “Oil Pestival” and his installation “Gezeitentür”, reported by several TV stations and the 2007 Hoop in honor of the “Wattikan” on the “Wattkampfgelände” “Was repeated at Brunsbüttel. His actions also included his satirical proposal to relieve the universities: the vacant “empty chair for wattology”. Among other things, Hoop created head-high wooden phallus sculptures, erotic etchings and book illustrations.

Hoop was related to the Swedish songwriter Carl Michael Bellman , living and writing . He dedicated his Bellman book Death is a bad bear to Hannes Wader. He did not live to see Hannes Wader, together with Klaus Hoffmann and Reinhard Mey , publish a CD with his Bellman transmissions under the title Love, Schnaps, Death - Wader sings Bellman in 1996 . Hoop, who had heart and lung disease, was found dead on May 25, 1986 in his car parked between Husum and his house on the B 5 .

Quote

"Carl Michael Bellman, do you mind / that we are still embarrassing you? / Hey, gamla svenska, do you hear me? / Can you live over there? // Is Ulla Winblad sitting by your side? / Is she still alive and well? / Do you have your hand on her dress? / Maybe even under it? "
