German Cabaret Prize
The German Cabaret Prize is one of the most important German awards for the genres of cabaret , chanson (music, song) and cabaret .
history
The prize was awarded for the first time by the Unterhaus - Mainzer Forum Theater in 1972, the first prize winner was Hanns Dieter Hüsch (again in 1982). In 1974 the prize was awarded for the first time in three categories and since 1977 the sponsorship prize of the city of Mainz has been awarded, which arose from a special prize awarded to Gert Fröbe in 1976 . In 2008, the State of Rhineland-Palatinate received the honorary award with which Dieter Hildebrandt was first honored for his life's work.
The award is a replica of the "lower house church bell " with which every performance in the lower house in Mainz is rung in and is currently endowed with 5000 euros per category. In 1974, when ZDF broadcast a recording of the award ceremony on television, it was still DM 5,000 , which, adjusted for inflation, corresponds to EUR 7,096.
In the successor of Dieter Nuhr , Volker Pispers moderated the award ceremony from 2011 to 2015, only represented in 2013 by Georg Schramm . In 2016 Jochen Malmsheimer conducted the show , and in 2017 Urban Priol .
Award winners
The cabaret category should not be confused with the German Cabaret Prize, which has been awarded annually in Nuremberg since 1991 .
Legend: (EP) = honorary award winner in the respective category
