After starting out as a pianist and stage musician in cabaret and theater events and as a clownish singer with the rock theater group Hallucination Company (1982/83), twelve years of solo tours through Europe followed. Characteristic of this period is the term Komisches Theater for her work and the rejection of the label as a cabaret artist . In 1986 she received the sponsorship award of the city of Mainz for the German Cabaret Prize .

Since 1995 turning away from cabaret and radicalizing work. As a result, performances, installations and post-dramatic theater are created . In addition to working on her own pieces, she also regularly directs off-theater productions. Miki Malör produces regularly in Vienna.

Works

Miki Malör's works evade one-sided classifications: they are inspired by the avant-garde of the 20th century, postmodern , deconstructivist , subversive , alternative, experimental, postdramatic, feminist, rhizomatic , sensual, absurd, highly comical, intimate, transgressing taboos, excessive, etc. v. m. Her work is not based on dramas, no meta-narrations and there are no actors who impersonate roles. She only realizes her own pieces, preferring to work with performers, dancers and amateurs. Another characteristic is their special use of music; her handling of objects indicates a close relationship with the visual arts.

The range of her subjects is extensive: an underwater piece (“Vampyroteuthis Infernalis”), two Schubert cycles (“Transit”, “Booty”), “Veiling. A parlor game "," Hysteria "," nationalHYMNS "(together with the group monochrom ) and the cult film - remake " The Attack of the 50 Foot Woman ".

Many of her pieces focus on female desire (such as “Desire as a will to trap” and the ongoing performance cycle “ Anima ”). Cross-genre cinematic works ("Interior Design") are increasingly emerging.

Miki Malör's theater feeds on philosophical and depth psychological theories, which recently resulted in some works on Deleuze / Guattari on the subject of dream machines (“The woman who ate a hundred cakes”, “Tigerbalsam”, “100 Objects to Represent Theater”). This work can be read as an attempt to interpret the unconscious as a model of uninterrupted and unlimited productivity. This creates “machines”, structures, tableaux of desire, bachelorette machines of subversion, in which Miki Malör's analytical background is embedded in passion, risk and touch. Instead of representation on the stage, there is action, pure productivity, which replaces the psychological game with a radical visual language that is free for associations.

Miki Malör has been working with director Miguel Ángel Gaspar for years.
