Steffen Mensching

Steffen Mensching (born December 27, 1958 in East Berlin ) is a German cultural scientist , writer , actor and director .

Life

In the jointly founded Liedertheater Karls Enkel , Mensching, who studied journalism and cultural studies, met Hans-Eckardt Wenzel , with whom he performed together as the Duo Mensching & Wenzel in self-written, profoundly philosophical cabaret programs until the early 1990s . In September 1989 he was one of the authors of the resolution of rock musicians and songwriters , which he also read at the beginning of events and was briefly imprisoned in autumn 1989 .

Mensching was seen together with the joke band Schnaftl Ufftschik , but in recent times has appeared almost exclusively as an author, with books such as Jacobs Leiter and articles in magazines. He also began directing at the theater, for example in Chemnitz .

Since the beginning of the 2008/2009 season he has been the artistic director and managing director of the Rudolstadt Theater .

Steffen Mensching is a member of the PEN Center Germany .

He writes journalistic for daily media like Frankfurter Rundschau and Junge Welt .

Private

Mensching lives in Rudolstadt and has a son.
