Schnaftl Ufftschik is one of Berlin native Brass Band , but which also jazz , folk plays and other musical styles. The mix of different styles in one song is particularly striking.

history

Schnaftl Ufftschik was founded in October 1995 by Reinhard Gundelwein, Rolf "Cello" Fischer and Lutz Wolf as a kind of crazy circus band . In 1996 the band won the Music Prize of Cultures in Berlin and Brandenburg Musica Vitale . Over time, all founding members (except Reinhard Gundelwein and Lutz Wolf) left the band and the current line-up was formed. In 1999 the first album Sabagold was released , a recording of a concert in Dresden . Since 2006 there has been a collaboration with the Brazilian singers Letícia Coura and Adriana Capparelli. Together with the two singers and their program BRASSil Voices , the group u. a. 2009 at the Danube Island Festival in Vienna . In 2009 the band became a member of the Rudolstädter Theater ensemble due to their musical diversity . Three pieces have already been created there, Two Ties , The Fate Symphony and The Rise of the Amateurs ; the music for the pieces Zwei Krawatten and Die Schicksalssinfonie was arranged by Sousaphon Stefan Gocht. Schnaftl Ufftschik is involved both musically and theatrically . In addition to their current Brasso Continuo program , the band also has a program called “The Magic Instrument”, which is aimed specifically at children. The name of the band is derived from a West Siberian legend. According to his own account, the Schnaftl Ufftschik is a forest goblin who protects blond-haired girls when they fetch water from the well. He travels around the world on the Trans-Siberian Railway and collects sound fragments from various musical styles.
