Quast also made a name for himself with clever adaptations of large materials for small casts. Inspired by Karl Kraus , who performed Offenbach operettas in his own adaptation, Quast brought out the evening Michael Quast reads, sings, dances and plays BLAUBART, Opéra bouffe by Jacques Offenbach at the Heidelberg Theater in 1998, accompanied by Theodore Ganger on the piano . A new version of the text by Quast and the author Rainer Dachselt served as the basis. Together with Dachselt, Quast has developed further new versions of Offenbach operettas: Orpheus in the Underworld , The Beautiful Helena , Parisian Life and The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein . At the Philharmonie Essen under the direction of Michael Kaufmann, Quast produced all five pieces as solo performances in 2007 ff., Accompanied by Rhodri Britton on the piano.

Quast produced Don Giovanni together with Sabine Fischmann , Theodore Ganger / Markus Neumeyer on the wing and Sarah Groß (director) . Complete madness for two voices and a piano (2006, coproduction with the MotzArt Festival in Salzburg, invited to the Salzburg Festival). In a team with Fischmann, Groß and Rhodri Britton / Markus Neumeyer on the wing, Die Fledermaus à trois (Künstlerhaus Mousonturm, 2010) , Carmen à trois (Oper Frankfurt, 2014), and Im Weißen Rössl à trois (State Operetta Dresden, 2017) followed.

Quast is co-founder and protagonist of the summer festival Barock am Main - Der Hessische Molière , at which Wolfgang Deichsel's Hessian Molière adaptations have been performed since 2005 in the park of the Bolongaropalast in Frankfurt-Höchst .

For the 2009/2010 season Michael Quast was to become co-managing director and artistic director of the Frankfurter Volkstheater . However, he canceled because there was no agreement with the heirs of the theater founder Liesel Christ on the economic management of the theater. Quast then founded the Fliegende Volksbühne Frankfurt, now Fliegende Volksbühne Frankfurt Rhein-Main, with like-minded people in December 2008 .
