history

Lore Lorentz (1966)

The Kom (m) ödchen was founded in 1947 as a political-literary cabaret by Kay and Lore Lorentz . Other contributors to the program "Positiv gegen " , which premiered on March 29, 1947, were Werner Vielhaber, Bernd Nesselhut, Hans Walter Clasen, Eduard Marwitz, Iris Fanslau and Ruth Henrichs. Hanne Wieder was also an integral part of the ensemble in the year it was founded. In July 1947, Mother Ey took the Kommödchen in her reopened "art center".

At the beginning of the 1950s, Eckart Hachfeld and Martin Morlock joined as authors. The combination of pleasing, unspectacular external form and allusive content was characteristic of the performances. The audience came predominantly from the educated middle class . In 1959, after the intervention of then Defense Minister Franz Josef Strauss, television broadcasts of the program were banned for one year.

The move of the theater to the current premises in the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf on April 27, 1967 was carried out during the break of a performance with the guests who carried the props and parts of the set into the new theater. The German student movement of the 1960s increasingly criticized the Kom (m) ödchen as “stabilizing the system”.

In 1983 Lore Lorentz decided to perform solo and left the Kom (m) ödchen ensemble. Kay Lorentz began to build up a new, younger ensemble. When he died in 1993, Lore Lorentz gave up her solo career and took over the management of the Kom (m) ödchen to implement the planned ideas. She handed over the management to her son Kay Sebastian Lorentz, who has been running the stage since Lore Lorentz's death in 1994.

The public square in front of the theater was renamed "Kay-und-Lore-Lorentz-Platz" by the city of Düsseldorf, and a municipal college school is also called the Lore-Lorentz-Schule.

Well-known members of the ensemble included Ernst Hilbich , Heinz von Cleve , Thomas Freitag , Harald Schmidt , Hugo Egon Balder , Jochen Busse , Volker Pispers , Mariele Millowitsch , Frank Lüdecke and Christian Ehring .

The archive of the Kom (m) ödchens has been located in the theater museum of the state capital Düsseldorf at the archive location, Merowingerstr. 88, and can be viewed by appointment.

Her motherly feeling for the artists is also unchanged. It also turned to the people from the "Kommödchen", the small literary, painter and actor stage in Düsseldorf. They will be giving a guest performance on the stage in Mother Ey's showrooms for one month from Tuesday. "
