The senior theater in the old town , also SeTA or senior theater in the old town SeTA eV , is a Düsseldorf senior theater founded in 1989 .

history

The senior theater in the old town was founded in 1989 by Ernest Martin , the then director of the JuTA (Young Theater in the Old Town) , and the director Wolfgang Caspar in Düsseldorf . It is located in Düsseldorf's old town , has 33 players between the ages of 60 and 88, around a third of them men, and is run as a club. The SeTA is also a member of the Association of German Amateur Theaters . In 2014 the theater celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Until 1993, Wolfgang Caspar was the artistic director of the SeTA. From 1994 to 1999 Helga Dürr and Gertrud Schwan took over the management. From 2000 to 2005 the senior theater in the old town then worked with Götz Langer. This was followed by the director Marlin de Haan, who u. a. 2006 brought Ferdinand Bruckner's play Illness of Youth to the stage with the theater ensemble .

According to Düsseldorf Marketing und Tourismus GmbH, the senior theater has been an integral part of Düsseldorf's cultural scene since 1989, is a recognized factor in social life and sees itself as a mediator between the generations. In addition, the theater has already been invited to guest performances from Paris to London .

Every year the theater ensemble , in which directors work with amateur actors, puts on a new production. Classics and contemporary theater are performed.
