Aernschd Born (actually Ernst Born ; born December 11, 1949 in Zurich ) is a Swiss songwriter .

life and work

At the end of the 1960s, during his apprenticeship as a reproduction photographer, he wrote his first songs. As a political activist and opponent of nuclear power , he took part in the occupation of the building site for the Kaiseraugst nuclear power plant in the mid-1970s and became known as the “house singer” of the Swiss anti-nuclear movement in the course of media reports about the occupation. Until the end of 2014 he is the managing director of the Nie wieder Atomkraftwerke (NWA) Switzerland association, which advocates renewable energies, energy efficiency and against nuclear power plants; He then curated the “Atomic Free Switzerland Documentation Center”, which is supposed to document regional and national resistance against nuclear power plants.

Aernschd Born received the German Cabaret Prize in the genre of chanson in 1980 for his double LP Aendschtation Paradies .

Born works as a song poet, lyricist and concept developer. He wrote numerous plays, radio plays and books as well as adventure novels for children in dialect and in German. He was co-founder and president of the LiederLobby Schweiz . In Basel, together with his Berlin wife Barbara Preusler, he ran the Kulturpavillon , a center for cultural encounters .

Born sees himself as a leftist artist. In an interview with the left-wing newspaper Junge Welt (2019) he explained that "Marx and Engels", whom he pays tribute to with quotations on his guitar case, "explain to me what is happening today."
