Wilfried Theodor Schmickler (born November 28, 1954 in Hitdorf ) is a German cabaret artist .

biography

Schmickler grew up in Hitdorf (today part of Leverkusen ) on the Rhine and has lived in the southern part of Cologne since the 1990s .

During his school days at the District Administrator-Lucas-Gymnasium in Opladen , Wilfried Schmickler was involved in the student co-administration (SMV), was a school spokesman and wrote for the school newspaper. After graduating from high school in 1973, he did his community service in a youth facility, where he came into contact with the post-hippie scene. The experience with the self-governing youth scene led to the establishment of a speaking and later theater group, from which the trio Matsche, Works and Hallies emerged . The trio later renamed itself (with Wolfgang Müller-Schlesinger and Klaus Huber ) in Matsche, Works and Pullrich , with whom Schmickler gained stage experience for several years.

When the cabaret artist Jürgen Becker left the cabaret trio 3 Gestirn Köln 1 in 1989 , Schmickler, mediated by Becker, became his successor. As a member of 3-Gestirns , he received the German Cabaret Prize in 2001 together with Heiner Kämmer and Wolfgang Nitschke .

After the three stars had dissolved, Schmickler appeared from then on as a solo artist and was awarded the German Cabaret Prize in 2007 and the special price Reif & Bekloppt as part of the Prix ​​Pantheon . In 2009 he was again awarded the renowned German Cabaret Prize in the cabaret category. On the occasion of his 30th stage anniversary, Wilfried Schmickler presented his fourth solo program from autumn 2008, It wasn't all bad . His fifth solo program Weiter premiered in September 2010. Schmickler performs around 120 live performances per year.

Schmickler has been a permanent contributor to the WDR cabaret show Mitternachtsspitzen since 1992 . He was best known through the exclamation “Stop, Mr. Becker! Stop! ”, Which loudly introduces Schmickler's regular final monologue in the show. For a long time he appeared in the Mitternachtsspitzen together with Jürgen Becker as the Cologne twins "Spitz & Spitz". From November 2007 to October 2010 he played the couple Loki and Helmut Schmidt ( Loki & Smoky) together with Uwe Lyko , then the WDR section was discontinued due to the death of Loki Schmidt . Since then, Schmickler and Lyko appear as overrated couples in world history in various roles (e.g. as Die Geissens, Merkel and Joachim Sauer etc.). After Helmut Schmidt died in 2015, another episode of the Loki & Smoky category with a scene in heaven was broadcast at the end of the year . Schmickler also writes satirical radio reports for WDR 2 and for the slash in WDR 5 -Morgenecho. Also for WDR 5, he moderates the radio show Hart an der Grenz four times a year as part of the entertainment series .

In his private life, Wilfried Schmickler volunteers together with Jürgen Becker and other colleagues at a Cologne-Ehrenfeld secondary school. He is also a member of the Bayer 04 Club. Wilfried Schmickler supports the coordination against Bayer dangers (CBG). He is also committed to social justice and is a member of the Social Association Germany (SoVD), whose socio-political work he also supports by appearing at SoVD events.
