Harbor Front Literature Festival

In August 2020, Der Spiegel reported that the Hamburg literature festival Harbor Front had canceled Lisa Eckhart's planned appearance. The festival management "[...] is unable to guarantee the 'safety of the visitors and the artist' in the event of a reading". The letter goes on to say: “In our opinion it is pointless to schedule an event at which it is clear that it will be blown up and even property damage and personal injury are likely. In the last few days we have already heard from the neighborhood that the protest is already forming ”. Such an event was not tolerated in the “most left-wing quarter, as is well known,” and police protection was out of the question because “the situation could then even escalate and even lead to street skirmishes”. Your publisher informed the management of the festival that they would not accept the offer to take part in the competition for the Kühne Prize 2020 via a video reading. With Sascha Reh is also a writer was unable to read at an event, "which does not unequivocally behind the right to liberty in art and speech - even if there was a riot is". In an open letter, the President of the PEN Center in Germany, Regula Venske, compared the events surrounding Lisa Eckhart with the violent hostility to which Erich Maria Remarque was exposed to nothing new with In the West .

On August 11, 2020, the FAZ wrote about the "fear of violent protest, the lack of clarity as to whether it was a warning or a threat, whether the ' black block ' of the Antifa was to be expected".

The AFD Hesse posted by Lisa Eckhart projection from the Literature Festival on Facebook a photo of her. The author distanced herself from the party, Lasselsberger and the publisher announced legal action.

In the context of the debates about Lisa Eckhart, Dieter Nuhr and Cancel Culture , comments from Knut Cordsen at BR KulturBühne and from Dirk Peitz in Die Zeit as well as two Deutschlandfunk-Kultur interviews with Claus Leggewie and Stefanie Sargnagel followed . A Tagesspiegel commentary by Malte Lehming , Götz Aly's column in the Berliner Zeitung , a Zapp commentary by Sebastian Friedrich , a WELTplus article by Deniz Yücel , an article by Michael Hanfeld in the FAZ and Margarete Stokowski in her Spiegel column also went to the debate.

criticism

In 2020 Lisa Eckhart was accused of anti-Semitism for a cabaret contribution that was broadcast on the WDR show Mitternachtsspitzen in 2018 . In her satirical contribution The Holy Cow has BSE , Lisa Eckhart asked, in her well-known sarcastic manner and in the form of a figure speech , “what we do when the inviolable begin to touch others”: So if Jews like Harvey Weinstein or Roman Polański , Blacks like Bill Cosby or Morgan Freeman molested women and gays like Kevin Spacey molested men. That is "the wet nightmare of political correctness". Lisa Eckhart's statement was criticized: "Jews, we always railed against the accusation that they were only interested in the money, and now suddenly it comes out that they really don't care about the money, they care about the women, and that's why they need the money . ” Tom Uhlig wrote in the Jüdischen Allgemeine that her recipe for cabaret consists“ of simply breaking taboos that never were - also with regard to anti-Semitism ”. Hengameh Yaghoobifarah criticized the appearance in the taz . Meanwhile, Ariane Lemme , also in the taz , defended him under the title Satire must be allowed to hurt .

The anti-Semitism commissioner of the federal government , Felix Klein , described Lisa Eckhart's contribution from 2018 as “tasteless and worthy of criticism” and stated that her punch lines were based on “anti-Semitism, racism and misanthropy”. The WDR, which had broadcast her contribution, defended Lasselsberger against accusations of anti-Semitism on the grounds that she wanted to expose prejudices. Also Henryk M. Broder in the world , Gerhard Haase-Hindenberg in the Jewish general and Götz Aly in the Berliner Zeitung defended Lasselsberger against the charge of anti-Semitism.

Quotes

“I am convinced that a lot has to be done to give people the opportunity to live so dignified that they can develop strength . [...] I am of the opinion that identity problems should not have priority as long as not everyone is provided for materially and existentially . "

- Lisa Eckhart : Tages-Anzeiger , December 1, 2019

"In terms of language, I am [...] a Goethe fan, also in his sloppiness and his flaws that Faust has. Of the wickedness with humor certainly Jelinek . Probably Klaus Kinski 's presence on stage (laughs) . As long as you can see him as a role model. But in terms of temperament. It all makes a mosaic.

[Interviewer] Your changed voice on stage reminds me of Falco's - are you aware of that?

I am not aware of anything on stage. In any case, he is also a role model for me. It shaped me very early on. What I really admire about Falco is his incredibly charming arrogance. He taught me that modesty on stage has no style. "

- Lisa Eckhart : auto touring, November 2016

During her studies at the University of Paris, Lasselsberger worked as a hostess at an agency . Among other things, she was booked for the Paris Motor Show . She sums up the "extremely anti-feminist structure" prevailing there :

“If the car sales didn't go up, the girls were told to pull their skirts up further. That was a very important experience for my feminist development, as it is one of the most degrading professions of all. "

- Lisa Eckhart : Kultur Magazin / Die Presse, April 15, 2016

Karl Fluch emphasizes Lisa Eckhart's artistic work in the Austrian daily Der Standard as follows:

“To call Lisa Eckhart's art cabaret would be a disregard. That Lisa Eckhart ended up in cabaret was just a coincidence. But well, mix them up there. You have to start somewhere. "

- Karl Fluch : Der Standard , February 24, 2018

“Glamor and sewer - in Lisa Eckhart's art one is symbiotically linked to the other. This results in exquisite perspectives that sometimes almost take the audience's breath away. "

- Karl Fluch : Der Standard , February 25, 2018
