Federal Government Commissioner for Jewish Life in Germany and the Fight Against Anti-Semitism

The office of the Federal Government Commissioner for Jewish Life in Germany and the Fight Against Anti-Semitism (often abbreviated to the Federal Government’s Commissioner for Anti-Semitism ) was set up on January 18, 2018, and is located in the Federal Ministry of the Interior . The creation of the post was part of the coalition agreement of the grand coalition . Task of the representative is to coordinate the actions of the Federal Government to combat anti-Semitism .

Felix Klein has held the post since May 1, 2018 , who was previously responsible for relations with Jewish organizations and anti-Semitism issues at the Foreign Office .

At the time of taking office, Klein was only assigned a secretary, and a clerk and a speaker were promised. After criticism from the Central Council of Jews and the opposition factions of the Greens and Left in the Bundestag, the post was increased to eleven employees.
