The Federal Government Commissioner for Resettler Issues and National Minorities is an institution within the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of the Interior .

The Federal Commissioner acts mainly as a contact person for ethnic repatriates and national minorities at the federal level as well as a coordinator and information point.

The office was created on September 28, 1988 by the then federal government as the “Federal Government Commissioner for Issues of Resettlers”. On November 20, 2002 the area of ​​responsibility was expanded to include national minorities by resolution of the federal government and the office was renamed “Federal Government Commissioner for Issues of Repatriates and National Minorities”.
