Federal Government Coordinator for the Maritime Industry (short- Maritime Coordinator ) is a representative of the federal government under the jurisdiction of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy . Norbert Brackmann (CDU) has been the incumbent since April 2018 .

history

The office was established in 2000 by the then Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder and was held by a State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economics until 2018 . On April 11, 2018, the federal government appointed Brackmann, a member of the Bundestag, to the office for the first time, who is not also State Secretary.

tasks

The tasks of the Maritime Coordinator include the coordination described in the Maritime Agenda 2025 and the bundling of the Federal Government's measures to strengthen Germany's international competitiveness in the areas of the maritime industry, consisting of marine technology , shipbuilding , shipping , port management , the maritime supply industry, inland shipping and fishing .

National Maritime Conferences

The maritime coordinator is responsible for the organization, event and management of national maritime conferences. The first of these conferences was organized by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology to strengthen the international competitiveness of the maritime industry on June 13, 2000 in Emden and opened by then Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder .
