Port economy

The term port economy encompasses all companies and services that enable the operation of a port .

The number and variety of port operations depends on the size, location and role of the port. Examples include packaging companies, warehouse operators , freight forwarders , logistics companies , ship suppliers , specialists for port logistics , ship fasteners and pilots . Port cranes , tugs , mooring boats and bunker ships are used as operating resources .

In some ports, port trade associations or business associations represent the interests of their members in relation to politics, authorities and other institutions.
