Norbert Brackmann (born August 30, 1954 in Lauenburg ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and lawyer . He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2009 and, as a directly elected member, represents the constituency of the Duchy of Lauenburg - Stormarn-Süd. Since April 11, 2018, he has been the Federal Government's new coordinator for the maritime industry .

Life

Norbert Brackmann graduated from high school in 1973 at the Lauenburg School of Academics in Ratzeburg . He then signed up as a contract soldier for two years, the last time he was a platoon leader in a repair company. From 1975 he studied law at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel , which he completed in 1979 with the first state examination and after completing his legal clerkship in 1982 with the second state examination.

From 1982 Brackmann worked for NDR in Hamburg. Initially as an advisor to the radio program director, from 1985 to 2000 as head of the radio broadcasting department. From 2000 he headed the new media division, which he had previously built up as the director's staff position. In this function he was responsible for the internet and teletext offerings of the NDR, the ARD community facility tagesschau.de as well as the intranet of the NDR. With the election to the German Bundestag he is on leave.

Norbert Brackmann was a co-founder of Digitalradio Nord GmbH, founded in 2000, and one of its managing directors until 2010.

Norbert Brackmann is Catholic , married and the father of two adult sons.

Local politics

Norbert Brackmann has been active in local politics in the Duchy of Lauenburg since 1975. He has been a member of the Lauenburg District Assembly without interruption since 1978. From 1986 to 1990 and since 1998 he has been chairman of the CDU district parliamentary group. From 1990 to 1994 Brackmann was district president for a time. In this function he was also appointed to the inquiry commission of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament on municipal constitutional reform in 1992, of which he was deputy chairman.

Federal politics

With the election to the German Bundestag in 2009, Norbert Brackmann is also active in federal politics. During the first legislative period he was a member of the budget committee of the German Bundestag and as a rapporteur for the budget of the Federal Ministry of Finance and the budget of the Federal Agency for Real Estate Tasks .

After the federal election in 2013, Brackmann was again a member of the budget committee and continued to be the rapporteur for the budget of the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Federal Agency. In this function he was appointed by the Federal Minister of Finance as Deputy Chairman of the Administrative Council of the Federal Agency for Real Estate Tasks. In addition, he became chairman of the federal funding body of the budget committee and a member of the audit committee. At the beginning of 2015, Brackmann was elected chairman and deputy spokesman for budgetary policy by the budget working group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group. With the election there was also a change in reporting. From then on Brackmann was the rapporteur for the budget of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure. After the 2017 federal election, Brackmann was again a member of the budget committee , chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the budget committee and rapporteur for the budget of the Federal Ministry of Transport . At the same time he was elected by the members of the budget committee as chairman of the audit committee after the CDU / CSU parliamentary group had claimed the position for itself.

With the formation of the government of the grand coalition in 2018, Brackmann was appointed the federal government's new coordinator for the maritime industry and thus a member of the ( Merkel IV cabinet ). With that he has also given up all his offices in the Bundestag.

Volunteering

Norbert Brackmann has been a member of the Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft eV since 1968 and has been chairman of the supervisory board of Raiffeisenbank Lauenburg eG since 1991. In addition, Brackmann has been an honorary member of the CDU district executive since 1975. Norbert Brackmann has been the organizational head of the rescue service for the Duchy of Lauenburg since 1998 . In addition, he has been honorary chairman of the board of the Otto von Bismarck Foundation eV in Friedrichsruh since 2012 . Brackmann is a member of the non-partisan European Union Germany, which advocates a federal Europe and the European unification process.
