The Golden Cabaret Nail is the prize of a cabaret and cabaret competition in Vienna .

history

The competition for the Golden Artificial Nail has been held since 1996. The competition extends over five days and is divided into the categories “Neulingsnagel” for new artists (max. Three appearances with a full program) and the main competition “The Goldene Kleinkunstnagel” for established (more) artists. The winner of the Neulingsnagels receives 800 euros and is allowed to appear on two days in the Theater am Alsergrund . The main competition wins 4,000 euros and four days of play in the Theater am Alsergrund. In recent years, the prize money has been doubled from various sponsors.

The annual autumn competition is organized by the Theater am Alsergrund and the Association for the Promotion of Theater and Cabaret Culture.

Four participants compete against each other in the “newcomers nail” category and twelve in the main competition. Journalists, organizers and representatives of agencies from Austria and Germany evaluate the participants as a jury and choose the winners (together with the audience = 1 jury vote).

The Kleinkunstnagel was founded by Andreas Hutter, who also headed the Theater am Alsergrund until his death in January 2010. Since then, his wife Cornelia has continued to run the theater in his sense and has retained the concept of promoting newcomers in the theater and in the course of the "Nagel" competition.
