Grazer Kleinkunstvogel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Grazer Kleinkunstvogel is a cabaret and cabaret competition that has been held annually in the Theatercafé in Graz since 1987 .

Participants and process

The cabaret competition is advertised for a wide range of fields, including cabaret (solo or in groups), stand-up comedy , songwriters , pantomime , scenic reading of one's own texts, but has been clearly defined as a young talent award ( sponsorship award ) from the start .

The "junior status" is defined as follows: It is the first publicly performed program. There hasn't been a significant number of appearances in front of a paying audience. The minimum age is 15 years - there is no upper age limit for “late-career workers”. The artist or group is not professionally active in a “related” profession ( actor , musician ).

Furthermore, former winners of the award are no longer allowed to participate.

The playing time is limited to 15 minutes.

In the three preliminary rounds, five jurors from the fields of art , cultural policy and the press select the four to six finalists. All the jury members will be exchanged on the final evening.

Prices

In addition to the cabaret awarded by the jury, an audience award will also be awarded.

The trophies for the jury and audience award (cabaret and audience bird) are designed by the ceramic class of the Technical College in Graz and become the property of the award winners.

Winning the cabaret is endowed with 1000 euros in prize money , a commitment to the performance of the evening program on the cabaret Hin & Wider in the Theatercafé in Graz and in the Café Praxmeier in Kitzbühel .

Winning the audience bird is linked to appearances on the Hin & Wider cabaret in the theater café.

Both prizes have title sponsors from the Styrian economy .

Press

In addition to the local, regional and national press such as the Kleine Zeitung or the Kronen Zeitung (cf. quotes under the web link to the “Kleinkunstvogel” ), the Austrian cultural broadcaster Ö1 also reports on the award, which is described as the oldest German-speaking young talent competition . The competition is also always a stepping stone for internationally performing artists such as Michael Mittermaier as winner in 1988 or Alf Poier as runner-up in 1995.
