Gery Seidl (born May 11, 1975 in Vienna ) is an Austrian cabaret artist , actor and musician .

Life

Gery Seidl grew up in Höflein on the Danube . He graduated from the HTL-Hochbau and initially worked in the construction industry and only later switched to acting. To do this, he took lessons from the actor and cabaret artist Herwig Seeböck while he was still in charge of construction work until he finally gave up his regular job to continue working as an actor, cabaret artist and - as he says - "optimist".

In 2003 Seidl produced the duo program Why Richard III? Together with cabaret artist Gerhard Walter , followed in 2005 by Taximeter rennt. For this he received the Austrian Cabaret Award Karl 2005.

In 2008 Seidl performed his first solo cabaret Because of Renovation Openly , for which he was awarded the Austrian Cabaret Prize 2008.

This was followed in 2010 by his second solo piece, Spaghetti with Ohne. Gery Seidl is also active as a musician. He plays Austrian pop music with his band Austrotop .

At the beginning of 2012, Seidl's third solo program was Congratulations! presented in the Wiener Kabarett Niedermair . He also performed his first best-of program, Total Spezial, on a cabaret tour in Austria.

His fourth cabaret PLEASE, THANK YOU. was premiered at the Orpheum Vienna in early 2014 and staged not only across Austria, but also in Germany by the end of 2016.

In 2015 Gery Seidl played his cabaret tour BITTE.DANKE.spezial all over Austria.

SONNTAGSKINDER , the title of his fifth cabaret, premiered in January 2017 in the Wiener Stadtsaal and was shown throughout the German-speaking region.

In 2017, Seidl was among the book authors and at the end of the year presented his first work Open to renovation - because life is construction site in the bookstore Thalia Landstrasse.

In October 2019, his solo program HOCHTiEF premiered at Orpheum Vienna .
