Leopold Bauer (director)

Leopold Bauer (born September 5, 1961 in Vienna ) is an Austrian author and director, who is also known by his stage name Leo Maria Bauer .

Life

Leopold Bauer grew up with his grandmother in Hötzelsdorf . He ended his school career without a Matura and then did an apprenticeship as a wholesale salesman. Bauer then worked in various jobs until he came to the Simpl cabaret in Vienna . This is where his artistic career began and a friendship and artistic collaboration began with Michael Niavarani , Rupert Henning and the hectic people, among others , and worked as an author from 1993 to 2003. He is the director of numerous programs for the Heilbutt und Rosen group . Since 1995 he has also worked as a director for television. Since then he has directed numerous comedy programs, sitcoms and series episodes. In the last few years he has also increasingly directed work for documentary play scenes.

In 2015 he made his cinema debut as a director with the feature film Der Blunzenkönig with Karl Merkatz , Andreas Lust , Inge Maux and Jaschka Lämmert in the leading roles.

Bauer lives with his wife in Vienna. He is the father of four daughters.
