Menschen & Mächte is a broadcasting station of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation , where different documentaries are broadcast weekly on ORF 2 .

International documentaries from the field of contemporary history and current affairs , in-house and commissioned productions on Austrian topics as well as co-productions are shown under the program title Menschen & Mächte . The content of the documentaries are influential people and powers who shape or have shaped the world. The topics are presented both as told stories with emotional engagement and analytically. The documentaries are intended for a wide audience and are intended to provide the necessary background on topics.

Special editions and production

The documentary series is supplemented with films on current international and Austrian topics with special editions of the program under the program title Menschen & Mächte spezial .

The documentary program is directed by Gerhard Jelinek . Topics on contemporary Austrian history are presented in exemplary productions by Andreas Novak's team . Documentations about current international events are edited by Helene Maimann .

Documentation series

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the beginning of the Second World War , the ORF produced a five-part documentary series entitled The Second World War , which was broadcast in September 2009 on Menschen & Mächte's documentary station. The editor in charge was Andreas Novak. The documentary series was released on DVD on September 15, 2009.

The five documentaries reached a total of 2.267 million Austrian viewers, which corresponds to 32 percent of the relevant population aged 12 and over. An average of 518,000 viewers followed the documentary series with a national market share of 24 percent (23 percent KaSat market share ).
