history

In 2000, Hannes Wiesinger, Gery Seidl and Reinhard Reiskopf met to perform together in the musical "The Winged Dragon" . Gery Seidl gave the Bobo , Reinhard Reiskopf the Prince and Hannes Wiesinger Klaus the Bold . Then the three of them parted ways again. Reinhard and Hannes continued to play musicals and so these two ran into each other again and again. About five years later Reiskopf got in touch again with the cabaret artist Gery Seidl. In the meantime, Hannes Wiesinger founded an Austropop formation called “Lokalverbot” , although actions of the same were limited to the immediate vicinity in the Lower Austrian Weinviertel .

Finally, one day Reinhard Reiskopf was overwhelmed by the idea of " starting a really cool Austropop cover band" because he noticed at various events that the audience was enthusiastic about autropop. He liked the idea of Austria 3 with just three front people and so he asked those people who were most obvious to him for this project. Hannes Wiesinger immediately agreed and Gery Seidl was brought on board as the third front man, who was also enthusiastic about the idea. They got together to follow their passion together to play “Austropop, freely interpreted, clean and dignified on the stage, carrying on the spirit and attitude to life of an entire generation”.

At first there were three successful concerts, the concerts, in which cabaret interludes by the three front people between the songs, were appreciated by the audience. So the concerts got bigger and bigger and a band was hired. This is how Austrotop became known and asked about the borders of the Weinviertel. The formation plays around 5 to 10 gigs a year, mostly in Lower Austria, but now also in Tyrol . The highlight of 2011 was the appearance at the onion festival in Laa an der Thaya , where Austrotop performed the best of the Austropop genre in front of several thousand spectators , “enthusiastically acclaimed by the audience”.

Austrotop supports the handshake4life association in the fight against spinal muscular atrophy . So there was a benefit concert for this association in March 2011 , at which Herbert Prohaska also made a guest appearance in the song "Rostige Flügel" . Furthermore occurred Austrotop on a light in the darkness -Benefizgala in Großpetersdorf on (1 December 2007).
