Peter Klien (* 1970 ) is an Austrian comedy - writer , comedian , philosopher and television host . From 2016 he was an external reporter for the ORF - Late-Night-Show Willkommen Österreich , since September 12, 2019 he has been presenting the ORF-1 late-night format Gute Nacht Österreich .

Life

After graduating from high school , Peter Klien began studying biology, physics, German and philosophy in Vienna, Innsbruck and Salzburg. Through his occupation with Greek philosophers, he came to ancient Greek and finally studied classical philology . He completed his studies in 2002 at the University of Vienna with a diploma thesis on The Comedy of Wisdom: Philosophy, Philosophers and Philosophy Schools with Lukian von Samosata as a Magister.

Initially he worked as a system librarian at the Technical University of Vienna , from 2003 he was a system librarian and press spokesman for the Austrian Library Association and Service GmbH (OBVSG). From the 2007/08 summer semester he was also a lecturer at the University of Vienna at the Department of Philosophy, where he offered the Greek terminology course .

In 2009 he took part in the competition for the Golden Cabaret at the Theater am Alsergrund and was awarded the Neulingsnagel as the best cabaret newcomer, which makes appearances with his first solo cabaret program Geist is cool! made possible. Two years later he was recommended to ORF as a gag writer for Willkommen Österreich . From April 2016, he also appeared in front of the camera as an external reporter for political events based on the German and American models, the first contribution was a report on the first round of the federal presidential election . In 2016/17 he was also active as an outside reporter for Die Tagespresse -Show , presented by Paul Kraker . From the Viennese folk theater , he was commissioned Couplettexte for by Felix Hafner staged Nestroy -Stück Höllenangst to write, the premiere took place in September 2017. In the fall of 2017 celebrated his fourth solo program Reporters Without Borders at the Vienna Rabenhoftheater premiere. In early 2018, he was one of the four candidates for the celebrity edition of the millionaire show .

In May 2019 Jan Böhmermann published the song Do they know it's Europe , on which satirists and comedians from sixteen European countries, including Peter Klien, contributed. His program Reporters Without Borders was shown at the end of August 2019 as part of the ORF summer cabaret series. Since September 12, 2019, Klien has been presenting his own late-night show on ORF entitled Gute Nacht Österreich .
