Thomas Stipsits (born August 2, 1983 in Leoben ) is an Austrian cabaret artist and actor .

The Obersteirer with Stinatzer roots already wrote during his time in BORG iron ore (1997-2002) songs and smaller -liners , which he in its first program in 1999 thought grabbed (together with Heiko Ernst Reiter (guitar) and Christian Keimel (percussion)). After appearances in the Leoben youth club Spektrum, he became more and more popular and in 2000 he won the Carinthian Cabaret Prize in Klagenfurt. After working with Georg Danzer , Martin Kosch and Alexander Kropsch, his first solo program got its premiere on December 14, 2001 in the Theatercafé (Graz) .

In 2002 Stipsits hosted the international comic festival comicodeon in Kapfenberg for the first time . In 2004 his second solo program ERBARMUNGSLOS premiered in the Niedermair cabaret in Vienna. With this he also appeared for the first time in Italy and Germany. In 2005 Stipsits was seen in three episodes of the comedy improvisation show Die Frischlinge ( ORF ), in which he won the audience rating twice. His solo program Greece premiered on February 15, 2006 in Vienna. In it he processed on the one hand his passion for Greece, on the other hand parts of Greek mythology .

At the end of 2010, Stipsits was in the sketch comedy series Burgenland can be seen everywhere by Leo Bauer, which was broadcast on ORF .

Recently he has also been heavily involved in advertising: Kika & Leiner and Neuburger .

In 2015, at the height of the refugee crisis due to the war in Syria , he posted a video about the prejudices against asylum seekers on the Internet. It received a lot of attention and approval, whereupon it was released as a benefit single and made it into the Austrian charts.

Life

Thomas Stipsits is married to Katharina Straßer ; in 2014 they became parents of a son. Their daughter was born in September 2018.

The long night of cabaret

Since 2002, Stipsits has also regularly participated in the “Long Night of Cabaret” in the Niedermair cabaret . Initially with Klaus Eckel , Simon Pichler and the Divas, he toured Austria for four seasons with the “Long Night”. In 2004 the cast Klaus Eckel, Pepi Hopf , Martin Kosch and Thomas Stipsits received the Austrian Cabaret Promotion Prize.
