The auto touring is the monthly club magazine of the Austrian Automobile, Motorcycle and Touring Club (ÖAMTC) and is sent to all members of the club. This is also the reason for the high print run of around 1.8 million copies.

prehistory

The predecessor of today's ÖAMTC, formerly the Österreichischer Automobil-Club (ÖAC), was published as the monthly Allgemeine Automobil-Zeitung (AAZ) from January 1900 . A few months after the "Anschluss" and the ordered dissolution of the Austrian motor vehicle organizations and associations by Adolf Hühnlein , the July 1938 edition of the newspaper was discontinued. The main topic was the introduction of the road traffic regulations of the " Altreich " in the " Ostmark " and the change from left-hand to right-hand drive.

history

After the resurrection of the Republic of Austria, the Austrian Touring Club (ÖTC) and the Austrian Automobile Club (ÖAC) were able to re-establish themselves and merge to form the Austrian Automobile, Motorcycle and Touring Club (ÖAMTC) on December 17, 1946 . From January 1947, the monthly club magazine published under the first president Manfred Mautner Markhof senior could appear again. Until 1955, the editions were rotogravure and consistently printed in black and white . In April 1955, the title page was converted to color printing. The spelling of the title at that time was AutoTouring in cursive , 12 issues per year were published. In January 1956, the ÖAMTC switched to a bi-weekly publication and the previous (30 × 23 or 30 × 21 cm) to a newspaper format .

Beginning in December 1978, the magazine format and monthly publication were again changed. In some cases, four-color printing was used . Since 1988, “ chlorine-free bleachedLWC paper has been used throughout and in four colors.
