Manfred Mautner Markhof senior

Manfred Mautner Markhof (born September 17, 1903 in Vienna ; † January 4, 1981 there ) was an Austrian entrepreneur from the Mautner Markhof family .

Life

As the great-grandson of the company's founder Adolf Ignaz Mautner , he was on the board of Mautner Markhof AG . As a member of the company's executive board in 1938, he was an avid supporter of National Socialism . Under his leadership, he was a graduate brewing engineer, the Schwechat brewery was rebuilt from 1945 after the Second World War .

In terms of economic policy, he was Vice President of the Federation of Industrialists from 1946 to 1972. He was also president of the ÖAMTC and the ÖOC for many years .

Mautner Markhof also made a name for itself as an art patron . As a collector, he supported many artists (e.g. Fritz Wotruba ) and was President of the Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft . His narrow circle of acquaintances included, among others Fritz Hochwälder or Richard Strauss and Karl Böhm . But painters like Ernst Fuchs , Arnulf Rainer and Friedensreich Hundertwasser were also supported by him.

In 1981 Manfred Mautner Markhof died in a car accident.

• 1966: Grand Cross of the Order for Services to Agriculture and Commerce
• 1969: Honorary citizen of the University of Vienna
