Hazel Brugger
Allison Hazel Brugger (born December 9, 1993 in San Diego , California ) is a Swiss - American slam poet , stand-up comedian , cabaret artist , presenter and author .
life and career
Hazel Brugger's father is the Swiss neuropsychologist Peter Brugger , her mother is an English teacher and comes from Cologne . Because she was born in the USA, she has not only Swiss citizenship but also US citizenship .
Brugger grew up in Dielsdorf near Zurich ; she has two older brothers. After finishing the canton school Zürcher Unterland in Bülach , she began to study philosophy and literature at the University of Zurich , which she dropped out. At the age of 17 she began her career on a poetry slam stage in Winterthur .
Brugger wrote a bi-weekly column for Das Magazin from 2014 to 2017 and was a columnist for Hochparterre and also for TagesWoche from 2013 to 2014 . In 2015, she hosted the live talk Hazel Brugger Show and Tell every two months at the Neumarkt Theater in Zurich .
On October 19, 2013, Brugger won the Swiss championship title at the fourth Poetry Slam championships. In November 2015 she started her first cabaret program Hazel Brugger happened . Since February 2019 she has been touring Germany, Austria and Switzerland with her second solo program Tropical .
Since 2016 she has been working as an outside reporter on the ZDF show today . On April 26, 2016 she appeared for the first time as a guest cabaret artist in the ZDF satirical program Die Anstalt . In 2017 she was the youngest ever winner of the Salzburger Stier Cabaret Prize for Switzerland.
In 2019, Brugger produced and moderated the YouTube series Deutschland Was Geht together with Thomas Spitzer , in which bizarre or special places and events in Germany are presented. Other comedians also appear, z. B. Lutz van der Horst or Nico Semsrott . In 2020 the series will be continued as Europa Was Geht , in which European metropolises and their peculiarities are presented.
At the end of February 2020, Brugger moderated the Swiss Music Awards in Lucerne.
Brugger has lived in Cologne since 2016.
