The central Switzerland on Sunday was in Central Switzerland published Sunday edition of the Luzerner Zeitung . It was launched in 2008 by LZ Medien AG. Like the only digitally available Eastern Switzerland on Sunday , it has been published since October 1, 2018 by the CH Media joint venture founded between the NZZ media group and AZ Medien .

Expenses and structure

The newspaper was published in a Lucerne and a Zug edition, which, however, only differed on a few pages in the federal cantons . It was published in the so-called Swiss newspaper format and comprised six groups : Politics / News / Culture , Sport , Cantons , Schauplatz / Markt , Piazza and Wissen / Unterwegs . In addition to national, international and boulevard topics, a regional association offered in-depth reports from Central Switzerland, photo reports and columns . Since September 25, 2016, the newspaper has been published in a slightly different design with a new logo and an expanded sentence from 5 to 6 columns.

Circulation and distribution

The WEMF - certified circulation started with 120,000 copies; it dropped to 2018 to 85'493 (PY 89'399.) sold or 89'089 (PY 92'518.) non copies; the reach was 184,000 (previous year 196,000) readers (WEMF MACH Basic 2018-II). Until the end of 2008, the newspaper was distributed free of charge to subscribers to the Neue Luzerner Zeitung (now the Luzerner Zeitung ), and since then a surcharge has been levied on the normal subscription price.

Joint venture CH Media with AZ Medien

In 2018, the NZZ media group brought the Luzerner Zeitung together with the St. Galler Tagblatt to the CH Media joint venture founded with AZ Medien , which both groups share equally. In preparation for this, the holding companies of the two newspapers, LZ Medien Holding AG and Tagblatt Medien Holding AG, were merged to form RMH Regionalmedien AG. The joint venture includes the regional newspapers and the radio and TV stations of both companies. Operations started on October 1, 2018.

attitude

In March 2019, CH Media announced that it would no longer print the newspaper for financial reasons. Slumps in the advertising market would have led to it. The last edition of Zentralschweiz appeared on Sunday on June 30, 2019 , after similar regional Sunday newspapers had already been discontinued. This resulted in job cuts in the editorial department and newspaper delivery. As a replacement, the publisher is offering readers Switzerland on weekends . This is a more extensive Saturday edition published by az Nordwestschweiz for the first time in 2017 . Since then, this has been published in a national edition and in 26 regional editions.
