Marco Tschirpke (* 1975 in Rathenow ; Potsdam district , GDR ) is a German music cabaret artist .

Life

Growing up in Brandenburg an der Havel , Marco Tschirpke studied music theory and piano at the Folkwang University in Essen after discontinuing his vocational training as a music dealer . In 2002 he moved to Berlin . Tschirpke has appeared as a stage artist with solo programs since 2003.

Tschirpke is married, has two sons and lives in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg .

style

His piano songs are often extremely short, usually no longer than 20–80 seconds. These pieces, which he called “Lapsuslieder”, represent an innovation in the field of piano cabaret songs, although there are clear references to Hugo Wolf , Hanns Eisler and jazz and pop, among others . Tschirpke's virtuoso piano style in particular gives his songs an autonomous status. His appearances are characterized by mostly cliché-free punchlines, high musicality, a subtle word-tone relationship and the intelligent handling of the audience's expectations. Many details seem improvised and seem to arise from the moment. Tschirpke will perform poems of his own production on stage in addition to his lapsus songs. They often deal with historical events (' Marie Antoinette ', ' Luther bei Cranach', ' Yugoslavia , mon amour') and are formally diverse.

When performing live, Tschirpke accompanies himself on the piano, but prefers larger arrangements on his CD releases. According to his own information, the focus of his activities beyond the cabaret stage is “setting the poems of Peter Hacks to music and not setting the poems of Günter Grass to music ”.
