history

In the summer of 1912, the ship was built in the “van Diepen” shipyard in Waterhuizen in the Netherlands with hull number “366”. At that time it was a 20.19 meter long, white mizzen sail ewer and was named Seemöve . Jürgen Schröder from Borstel in the old country paid 14,500 gold marks for the ship. The first ship letter from the royal district court in Harburg was dated June 19, 1912. In 1923, Schröder installed a first auxiliary machine.

In 1929, Captain Wilhelm Raap from Krautsand bought the Seemöve and in 1934 had a 100 hp machine installed. One of the ship's masts fell, the jib boom was cut, and all that remained was an auxiliary sails. During the Second World War , the sea gull sank in the port of Hamburg on a night of bombing. Raap had the ship lifted and repaired. By 1955 the sea gull grew to a total length of 34.50 meters and a volume of 251 gross register tons . The former mizzen-ewer became a coaster .

Ten years later, with the new owner Horst Funck, the name was changed to MS Rita Funck . Under this name Christa and Eberhard Möbius bought the steamer, which was uneconomical for shipping, and had it converted for theater operations at the “Garbers” shipyard in Rothenburgsort .

On October 13, 1975, “Das Schiff” premiered at its berth in Nikolaifleet . Artists such as Gert Fröbe , Heinz Reincke , Helmut Qualtinger , Senta Berger appeared in guest performances; The theater ship has been traveling to the Kieler Woche , to Bremerhaven , to Helgoland and to ports around Hamburg (for example Brunsbüttel , Stade and Beidenfleth ).
