Michael Frowin (* 1969 in Marburg an der Lahn ) is a German actor , cabaret artist , director , author , theater director and librettist .

Life

Frowin grew up in Hessen . After graduating from high school in Philippinum (Marburg) , he began studying acting at the Berlin Theater School in 1990. He received his vocal training from Waltraud Pusch and Ana-Lisa Nathan. In 1991 he was the youngest member of the ensemble in the Düsseldorfer Kom (m) ödchen .

Since 1992 he has been a participant in Gisela May's masterclasses in the subject of chanson interpretation , and in 1994 Frowin also became her masterclass. From 1994 to 1996 he was engaged as an actor and musical performer at the Stadttheater Pforzheim, from 1996 to 1998 at the United Theaters in Krefeld / Mönchengladbach . In 2001 Michael Frowin became a member of the Dresden cabaret theater Herkuleskeule , for which he had previously worked as a writer. It was there that he began directing. In 2003 he was seen with a satirical weekly review on the TV channel N24 . From 2004 to 2006 he could be heard in the radio comedy Die Pensionnerinnen von Spitzkunnersdorf on Hitradio RTL Sachsen .

Since 2004 he can be seen as a soloist and with various play partners on the cabaret stage. a. with Jochen Kilian, Dietmar Loeffler, Lothar Bölck , Martin Maier-Bode, Simone Solga, Thomas Quasthoff.

In autumn 2007 Michael Frowin became artistic director of the theater ship Das Schiff in Hamburg . From 2009 to 2016 he was also a partner and artistic director of the theater production company Theaterplatz together with Jochen Kilian.

Frowin has been an author, songwriter and opera librettist since 1998. So come from his pen u. a. the revues Winter Dreams and Münchhausen Junior at Friedrichstadt-Palast Berlin, Mikropolis for the Komische Oper Berlin , Frauen for Napoleon for the Rheinische Landestheater Neuss (with music by Ralph Benatzky) and The Treasure Island and The Ghost of Canterville for the Zurich Opera . The adventure opera Robin Hood , which premiered at the Komische Oper in 2008 , was later performed in Düsseldorf, Karlsruhe, Oslo and Zurich. In 2002 he produced Angela - Eine Nationaloper for the Neukölln Opera in Berlin . In 2015 he wrote the musical Hammerfrauen - Das Baumarkt-Musical with Robert Löhr and Benedikt Eichhorn , in which he also played and which he produced together with Theaterplatz and Dieter Hallervorden and Die Wühlmäuse respectively .

For cabaret Frowin was and is often active as an author and director, for example for the Herkuleskeule Dresden , the Berlin cabaret theater Die Distel , the academixer Leipzig and the Renitenztheater Stuttgart .

From 2010 to the end of 2019 Michael Frowin was alongside Lothar Bölck as the chauffeur of the Federal Chancellor and the face of the political satire Kanzleramt Pforte D on MDR television , six episodes of which were broadcast live from the Eisenach theater each year. He is also a regular guest on the late shift at SWR.

In 2011 Michael Frowin's first children's book was published: Mikropolis with illustrations by Joelle Tourlonias . The children's opera of the same name by Christian Jost (music) and Michael Frowin (libretto) premiered on October 30, 2011 at the Komische Oper Berlin.
