Tabaluga & Lilli is a musical for children and adults based on an idea by Peter Maffay . It was premiered live on the 1993/1994 tour. In 1994 it was recorded live in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle for ZDF and was also published as a radio play.

The dragons lived in the world millions of years ago . They could fly, spit fire, and speak. With all their might they tried to use the warmth of their fire to defend the world from the deadly cold of the ice. But then the time came when the ice threatened to destroy all living things. Tyrion, the old dragon father, is placing all hopes in the last keeper of the fire: his son Tabaluga. To stop its greatest adversary, Arktos, Tabaluga must find the True Fire. He is supported by a wise magician . While in search of the fire, he faces many dangers (e.g. the black widow tarantula's nets ) but also sees the beautiful things (e.g. the dolphins ). And so he realizes that the world is wonderful, with all the good and bad , because everything has its meaning and place in life. Arktos, the Lord of Eternal Ice, creates a beautiful being out of pure ice - Lilli. She is said to cast a spell over Tabaluga so that he cannot end his search for the True Fire. Tabaluga begins to fall in love with Lilli and the plan seems to be working. The young dragon has to fight and is supported by his father, who dies in the process. Then Tabaluga wants to give up, because he thinks that life without his father has no meaning anymore. He realizes that he has long since found the true fire: love. Arkto's powers then wane and good triumphs over evil.
