András Fricsay
András Fricsay (born April 2, 1942 in Szeged , Hungary ) is a Hungarian actor and director .
Life
Fricsay was born as the second son of the conductor Ferenc Fricsay . He studied painting in Geneva . He was trained as an actor at the Max Reinhardt School for Drama in Berlin , but broke off.
He came to the Münchner Kammerspiele in 1971 via Bremen , Mannheim , Berlin and Hamburg . Since 1971 Fricsay has also worked as a theater director and since 1974 as an opera director. In 1979 he founded the independent theater group The Magic Flute . At the Munich Residenztheater he had great success in 1989 with a staging of The Robbers , which was relocated to the punk and rocker milieu , with 111 performances.
From 1989 to 1992 Fricsay was senior director at the Bremen theater . Here he staged, among other things, the theater premiere of Lina Wertmüller's Love and Anarchy . Freelance director since 1992, in 1993 he successfully transferred cabal and love to the Third Reich at the Bonn Theater . The proportion of opera productions increased more and more, for example Figaros Hochzeit (1997) and Der Freischütz (2000), both at the Bonn Opera .
He lived in Munich and Hamburg for several years; since 2001 he has had his permanent residence in Berlin. In the past few decades, Fricsay, who speaks fluent German, has worked as an actor on several theater stages, among others. a. active in the Oberhausen theater, but also repeatedly took on film and television roles.
