Dalen is a town in the Norwegian province of Vestfold og Telemark . Dalen is the administrative center of Tokke Municipality . The place has about 780 inhabitants and is located at the western end of Lake Bandak . The deepest point is 72 moh. (Bandak), the highest at 1,537 moh ( Kvannfjellet ).
Industry
In the mountains near Dalen lies Tokke kraftverk . The hydroelectric plant regulates the uppermost western branch of Skiensvassdraget . It was expanded in four stages and completed in 1979. The gradient from the Hardangervidda to the Bandak is 1,000 m.
At the beginning of the 19th century, molybdenum deposits were discovered and extracted in Telemark, among others in Dalen and Bandaksli .
